The founder of AeroPress, Inc. and inventor of AeroPress is Alan Adler. Like a syringe, it comprises a cylindrical chamber and a plunger with an airtight silicone seal. The chamber is filled with water and ground coffee, which are steeped before being forced through a filter by the plunger. It can brew filter-strength coffee in addition to highly concentrated coffee that the maker refers to as “espresso style.”
Competitors have five minutes to brew coffee in this multi-round, elimination competition in 2018, 3,157 participants from 61 nations participated in the competition.
It had only three competitors when it was first held in Oslo, Norway, in 2008, but it gained prominence every year following that. UAE Aeropress began publishing in 2016 and will utilize the subject “Space” in 2022, at the DMCC’s office.
In 2018, 3,157 participants from 61 countries participated in the competition. The COVID-19 outbreak forced the cancellation of the 2020 championship.
The competition had a format of seven Emirate regions, with the winner moving on to the national stage. For the national stage, there are six wild cards and 21 winners. The competition was back in 2021 with both live rounds and a brand-new online structure that allowed competitors to design and submit their recipes from a distance.
Ororo Experience participated and did a “Fun Cupping” section on the event to introduce East African coffee to the United Arab Emirates. And our very own, Amina Khan was one of the judges for UAE Aeropress 2022.
The victor of the Aeropress Champion UAE 2022, known as “The Winner Takes All”, Congratulations, Waqar Alhammadi! The first Emirati woman to represent the UAE, she will represent the UAE at the “World Aeropress Championship 2022” in Vancouver, Canada, on December 1–3, 2022.
